A nice creamy pint of Guinness for Beer Saturday
Raise a glass for Beer Saturday
It's Saturday again folks meaning that a few like-minded beer enthusiasts under the expert stewardship of the main man @detlev share some beers of the world. You might even get a story, a joke, a rundown of a great night out or an even better night in.
With three young children to look after, we seldom get out for a night out, especially just the two of us. We have had a good run of it recently though to be fair, as we have attended two Weddings without the kids and also got out for a lovely Tapas meal.
Cava Bodega is one of my favorite restaurants in Galway, and I almost always pick it when it is my choice for where we go and as usual it didn't disappoint. I was too busy enjoying my wife's company to take any photos of dishes, but they were all really good, so if you are ever in Galway, I would highly recommend a visit, just remember to book well in advance to avoid disappointment. These are the Tapas we went for.
rack of lamb, chicory, piquillo pepper sauce
tomato bread, serrano ham, olive oil
free range duck fritter, chilli & seaweed jam
Jamon croquettes, saffron mayonnaise
chicken skewer, chorizo, truffle mayonnaise, crispy dillisk onions
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm is all I can say. As per usual these hit the spot and the Duck skewer and the Chicken and chorizo skewer were dishes that we had not tried before and were absolutely spot on. My wife opted for a nice Sauv Blanch and I went for a delicious Rioja, both of which were excellent.
Back to the Beer
After dinner we popped into The Dew Drop Inn which always has good Guinness and last night was no exception, with a few creamy pints going down very well after dinner. We decided to sit outside the pub and watch the world go by, and there was an overhead heater to keep us warm from the elements, which was good. It drizzled rain on and off for most of the evening and then just as we were leaving the heavens opened with apocalyptic rain, so our exit for home was very well timed!
The Grade
A very respectable 4 out of 5 for the Guinness, which clung to the glass as I drank it, which is always a good sign of the quality of a pint of Guinness.
4/5
