My Elder Sister
It's been a long time since I visited my older sister. I felt she should call me before going to her place, but all my thoughts were just to put her to the test. She can never call you, and even when she has the mind to call, I knew something must take her mind very far away from her thoughts. I just know the kind of person she is.
I only took my kids to her some days before I traveled to my hometown since she lived a little closer to where I lived. The day we were preparing, my kids were so happy as they had to leave the house at least to travel somewhere. I hardly take them out to visit people; maybe that's my principle, but then I just needed to try out something to make them feel at home, as they have been crying for this over time.
We got prepared, and I gave my elder sister a call that we were on our way. Although my husband had given me directions on how to get to the place. I called her, trying to get more details, but then she was left talking to someone else instead of focusing on what was important. I think she still had the same character my mum always complained of. She had gone away with the fairies, I guessed. I was just talking, thinking she was listening, but after some moments, I kept quiet and started listening to her voice talking to someone else. I decided to abort the call and tried to call her again. This time, she answered and apologized for not talking when I called. After some time, she got carried away again by another person who was discussing with someone else. I thought this time the issue had nothing to do with her. I never cared to call again, since I had the directions to her place with me.
We left some minutes past seven. When we got to some point, I decided to call her again just to be certain we were at the right bus stop, but her phone number was not going through. I tried several times until, after a few minutes, she called me in return, just as if she had known I was trying to call her. I asked her straight without saying a different word because I knew she would be gone with the fairies as usual. She answered me promptly, but then I was about to ask her another question, which, I think, was not essential anyway, but then she began to talk to someone else. I did not waste any time before aborting the call.
An hour later, we got to her abode, and she welcomed us so well. My daughter immediately jumped on her, as it had been a long time since she saw her.
She said she would have gone to the market to buy something to prepare, but something took her mind away. I asked her to just try her best to remove whatever was making her be taken by the fairies. I thought my advice would aggravate her, but to my surprise, she just smiled over it and left for the market. While leaving, she took my daughter with her just to accompany her. Two hours later, my sister was still in the market without remembering to come back. After another hour and thirty minutes, I saw them coming home with my daughter, looking so tired. I did not bother to ask what happened because I knew the kind of person she was.
I took the goods from her and went straight to the kitchen. I prepared a dish for us all, and then my elder sister was busy talking to someone else and got distracted by something else again. The person she was discussing with got angry and started talking so hard at my elder sister harshly. This was when the quarrel burst out. The only thing I had to do was to separate them but not judge who was wrong.
My elder sister began to ask me to tell her who was wrong, but I never hid anything from her; instead, I told her the truth. She flamed up at me and turned her anger to me. I could not talk anymore and instead began to watch her do the whole thing. I only said I was sorry if what I had said was not the truth; her talk was never-ending, and so I decided to go outside just to make her calm. She came after me again, and then I just thanked my star that a woman who was passing by made all her shouts quiet.
After staying for three days, we traveled back home. My daughter had to narrate how she got carried away by someone who was passing by. My daughter said she would not go to her place again, just because of her nature.
It is kind of annoying when I talk to people over the phone and find out their attention was not even with me all along and I have been talking to myself.
That was what happened; its just that I cannot say a word being my elder sister.
Well, she does really have a limited attention capacity... I mean, I was really curious about what other things she could have been thinking that made her act like she's always away with fairies. I'm glad you've endured a three-day stay with her because I'm really a short-tempered person, and even if she's my sister, I can't stand a person like that. As much as possible, I'll just stay away from her so that I can avoid lashing out at her. Thankfully, between my sister and me, I'm the short-tempered one ahahaha... Thanks for sharing, @abigail04!
