I Wish I Can Take Back Time

Events happening nowadays are something we cannot take especially in my country Nigeria. Citizens are suffering in terms of food and money. Some are struggling to survive, while some are enjoying what has been created. Some are stealing the national cake just to make their path great.

Politicians of now are not the kind of politicians back in the day. The ones we have now just wanted everyone to die of hunger. If heard, they would say, “We don't care if citizens are dying.” This is something the past governments cannot tolerate.

Diva PlavalagunaI can't imagine what had happened in one of our neighboring countries. They had to take out the old ones that were not ready to leave the government seat. Those old ones were ready to take their families with them, and we were even ready to rule until they were dying. This was because they had seen so many goodies in that position. They were also fighting for powers. This is what is happening here in my dear country. This is why they are ready to take the government position to their grave. Even in their grave, if allowed, would still keep on ruling. In another way, if allowed, they would buy their death and live for eternity just because of that government position they are enjoying.

Back to businessNigerians have turned to a home of hardship, most especially the poor. Those enjoying this phase of life are the rich. They are getting richer, abundantly.Going back in time, I would bring back the past glory through the era of amalgamation. The only people who cause this phase of hardship are those who colonize us. They made things worse most especially bringing us together under one umbrella. It was better the way we were before amalgamation.

The truth needs to be told: The British government made a very grave mistake by giving the Hausas the power to overtake everything. The amalgamation favored the majority, which were the Hausas. When raised, the Yorubas and the Ibos could not overtake the Hausas just because of population. They won the hearts of the British who colonized Nigeria and made them the head over the general citizens of the country.

The amalgamation has caused serious problems, and this same problem still kept growing even in the hearts of those who called themselves leaders.

To come out of this mess, we need to go back to those days when we were separated. The amalgamation has made us lose so many things around us and good things that can bring us goodies. Among others is the Bakassi Peninsula. This land has enough crude oil, and Cameroon shares a boundary with us in that same place. So, just because of the act of the Hausas, who wanted us to lose what was so crucial to the Southerners, they decided to let go of that place, handing it to the Cameroon.

The suffering of today wouldn't have come up if not for the amalgamation that brings us together. The Hausas tried so much to bring so much confusion between the Southerners, Easterners, and Westerners.
