The Lincoln Lawyer: Any Case, Anytime, Anywhere

I love anything that has to do with legal drama because they normally “protagonize” a particular lawyer. If there’s one thing you’ll realize in “courthouse” movies, it’s how the main character/lawyer ends up winning about 98% of his/her cases. And the final moves which bring the wins are never seen coming.

The Lincoln lawyer is a legal drama series which was released in 2022 with the main character; Mickey Haller, a defense attorney who works on the road from the back of his Lincoln. When I began the movie, I just knew I was going to like it. Come on, a lawyer with 2 failed marriages who was also an addict(painkillers) coming back to work after a year in rehab? Of course! Let me have every bit of it. Initially, I thought his experience in rehab was going to steer the movie but guess what? What I saw was even better.

I had a bit of all emotions rushing through me whiles watching this movie. I would catch myself laughing at one point, angry the next, teary right after that and sometimes even scared later. The acting was so good that the characters got me to be doing whatever they wanted me to do. I cussed out a few times and trust me, this happens about twice a year so I’ve exhausted my subscription.

I believe the cases they chose for the movie were great. Especially how they started with the biggest case in season one to launch his comeback. It was so refreshing to see how every case brought out a new personality in the main character and all the people around him as well, especially his investigator who was actually my favorite character.

The only loophole that I believe took some “sprinkle” out of the movie was how the lawyer was making so many dangerous moves and pissing off a lot of powerful people, yet his family was safe all the time. I believe in such movies, if you’re doing too much, your family gets into danger. Either there’s a kidnap or someone sends you pictures of your daughter to warn you and all.

Nothing of that sort happened and even though it makes sense that he took extra precautions for his family due to his line of work. I believe it was too perfect and there could have been a point where he probably should have made a mistake of some sort.

Another thing I think was off was how he was able to think better on the road. Oh come on, I thought the human brain worked better with stability and silence but he was working and thinking on the road in his Lincoln with all the noise and traffic. Hence, his name, the Lincoln lawyer.

With what I was saying in the beginning, lawyers in such movies use whatever means just to get a win for their clients. Sometimes it may seem like the case is sinking and they are going to lose but right in the last 5 minutes they save the case with one brilliant move.

Whatever happens in life, you can always find a way to win. We are the lawyers of our lives representing ourselves. It may be tough at one point but it is possible and if we look closely, we’ll gather all that need to be gathered to win our cases.

I believe this was one of the best courthouse movies I’ve ever watched. I enjoyed every part of it to the extent that I watched some episodes twice. It’s a great movie and I will rate it 7/10.
