The Chloe Top

Hello everyone, I want to share with you all something I’ve been wanting to work on since the beginning of the year. I’ve been wanting to make a beach top collection since March but I’ve never had the courage and I’m still not sure why. After I got sick last week, I just decided to go after my dreams and start the first design on my beach top collection.

This particular collection was inspired by my love for the beach. Being in the hospital for some days made me appreciate all those beach moments and right before I even recovered I started drawing out my designs. They were very funny but my mom encouraged me that the most important thing was that I knew what I wanted to make.

I followed my mom’s advice and did what I wanted. The first design is an asymmetrical top with a rose and tendrils. I named this the Chloe top, after one of my favorite hivers. She’s a very simple and pretty lady, and I believe it’s something I wanted in this top.
I chose peach to signify prettiness and baby blue to signify the waves at the beach.

I made this top with about 41 rows of half double crochet. 20 rows with peach and 21 rows with baby blue. I started the base with about a chain of about 12 inches which was equivalent to the length from my left shoulder to my right underarm.

For the rose, I made a long chain and then made a mesh with three chains and skipped two stitches to make the base. I then filled it with 6 to 12 double crochets.

Moving to the tendrils, I made a chain and then 2 double crochets in each stitch. I then attached the rose and tendrils to the top. I finished the top by making a long chain for the lace and then fixing it to the back of the top.

It’s been a while since I went to the beach and I’m glad I’m going to resume my beach visits in my beach collection. Illnesses are not good in anyway but I’m glad that it happened because through that, I’m finally working on something I’ve been wanting to do for a while.
