Let’s Crochet A Pencil Case For The Best Student In My Mom’s Class

My mom is a teacher and with how her students like her, you will need nobody to tell you she’s passionate about her job. Yesterday, she was telling me about the best student in her class. She said she’s really impressed as to how the girl behaved throughout the term because she wasn’t coming to school with snacks yet, never begged any of her friends or never showed any sign of sadness. She’s only 7 years.

According to my mom, her dad lost her job so things have been a little hard for them at home. This made me more impressed with how she was still able to stay on top of the class throughout. She was wrapping some gifts for her for the upcoming graduation so I decided to buy her pencils since she’s really good at pencil drawing. I realized it looked too raw so I decided to get her a pencil case and of course I had to do it the way I know best. I spent about 5 hours on this.

The materials I used were;
•Leftover yarn
•1.60m crochet hook
•Zipper
•1.60mm crochet hook

I started by making the lead. I made 6 single crochet in a magic ring and then in the next row, I made 1 single crochet, 1 increase( two single crochet in the same stitch).
In the next row I made 2 single crochet in two stitch and one increase. In the next row, I made 3 single crochet in three stitches and one increase. I made the wood part of the pencil by still increasing in the next rows. 4 single crochet in 4 stitches and an increase in the next till the end of the row.

I moved on to the body and just made normal stitches with no increase for the desired length that I preferred till I reached the end.

For the eraser, I made a circular base with magic ring and 6 single crochet. I then increased it till I got the size of the case itself.

The plan was to make a case with button but I ended up adding a zipper. I realized since she’s just a kid, she would need to so none of the pencils fall down. I sewed the zipper to the case and I was done.

It’s rather unfortunate I won’t be around during the graduation but I will make sure I speak to her over the phone and congratulate her. Thank you for your time and I hope you like it.

At this point, you should be called the crochet queen because I doubt if there is something you create with this gift of yours.

Well done... You should make a pouch for my arrows, I hope it won't cost much.

Your mom sounds like an amazing teacher, truly dedicated to her students. The story of the little girl is both heartwarming and inspiring. Despite her challenges at home, her resilience and positivity shine through. It's wonderful that your mom is recognizing her hard work with gifts for graduation.
