I Thought The Moon Was A Spy

I was a very stubborn kid with innocent face. The one that didn’t understand the meaning of stop or don’t do it. If I’m told not to touch something, right in the next minute you’d come back to see me carrying the thing. If I realized I was in trouble I knew well to cry my heart out to avoid punishment.

There was this particular day,I went out of the house at night around 7pm to play at my neighbor’s.Which child even goes to play at 7pm except stubborn little abenad. It was about 2 minutes walk from home. Whiles leaving, I saw the moon at home and then when I got to my neighbor’s place I saw it there too.Right after I got there my friend’s mom said it was too late to play so she sent me home. When I got home the moon was there too. How? Why is this ball following me?Who sent this one and what does it even want from me.

Every kid loves to play hide and seek and being a stubborn one, I was even professional in that game. I decided to play hide and seek with the moon but no matter where I hid,I came out to see it looking at me. I will never forget that night. I went in front of my house and it was there, the back and it was there. I went to my room and looked through the window and it was there. At this point I started getting scared. Does it mean this thing sees everything I do and when I say everything even the drinks I’ve been stealing at night?

The moon even followed us to evening service and followed us back home. At this point I concluded my mom had sent the moon to spy on me. I stopped going to my neighbor’s place at night. I stopped stealing from the fridge at night and on days I wanted to outsmart the moon, I would wear my brothers clothes so the moon would think it’s my brother and when reporting to my mom, it would mention my brother’s name.

What made me believe that the moon was a spy was that anytime I took something from the fridge, my mom knew it was me. I remember telling the moon oneday that if it stopped snitching, I would share all that I take from the fridge with it but that spy didn’t stop reporting me. Eventually, I changed my ways and became a good kid because I couldn’t deal with that spy anymore.

Years later, I learned in school that even though the moon orbits around Earth, it doesn’t follow anybody anywhere at night. Then who was snitching on me? I later realized it was my mom using serious psychology on me all that while. Honestly, the way I didnt like the moon, I’m sure if I had the chance to meet it one on one, it would have been war.
