Tom’s best birthday present 🎁
Tom asked his mom, ``Mum I watched it on a tv show where they said “To make it in life one has to be dedicated and determined” still there are some people in life who have been trying so hard to make it but at the end of the day they couldn’t.
This same life is where we have a lot of people who don't even care about who they want to be but they found themselves in greater positions.
He asked his mum, Why is life so unfair?
Tom just clocked 17 last May. And it's a few months until his next birthday. He was so curious about how his life would be after getting to adulthood at 18. His life would be different and he would have to be on his own from then. He wonders what it would look like to legally become an adult.
His Mum smiled and said, “I would give you a response on your birthday.” I would make that my very precious gift for you.
TOM’S BIRTHDAY
Tom was so happy to clock 18, he couldn’t sleep till throughout his birthday eve. He has been thinking of how to make it in life. But he forgot about the question he had thrown to his mum then.
Very early in the morning, Tom's Mum called him for an audience. She celebrated him with a surprise cake with candles 🕯. She told Tom to make his wishes as he blew out those candle lights.

She reminded him of his questions months ago. Tom was surprised his Mum didn’t forget and kept to her promise.
He answered, yes Mum, I have forgotten but now I can recall.
She said the answer to your question is that “life is multi-dimensional”. A 9 to you might be a 6 to another.
(Tom nodded his head as he listened carefully to her advice.)
Tom, you are growing each day and each second of your life that has gone would never show up again. So make sure you make use of them wisely.
“Work like you don’t know how to pray and pray like you don’t know how to work”.
We are not equal in life. Just like our fingers are not equal. So you don’t have to compare yourself with others. The best thing is to be yourself always and never regret who you are. Make sure you are optimistic about what you do and never think down on yourself or anyone.
My son! Listen carefully to this last piece of advice. “If you want to be rich go into business. But if you want to be famous go into entertainment”… The choice is yours to make…
Tom remained silent for some time, it appears to him like he just listened to an angel sent from heaven. The words got so deep into his heart and he promised his mum never to forget any of them.
That was a perfect gift for his birthday.
He said; this is the most remarkable birthday I ever had.
A year after, Tom lost his mum and was left alone to himself. The easy life for him was so hard all of a sudden. He felt like the world had changed for him alone.
He couldn’t believe he lost his mum. He would always try to rise but it wasn’t as easy as he expected. He got to realize that we don’t give value to someone or something until it’s no more.
Tom had to move on with life. He knows the journey won’t be as easy as he thought. It’s left for him to follow his dreams of becoming a great musician. He never gave up on his dreams.
Every day was practice day for him. His melodious voice was something natural.
One day he was on his way to church when he saw a poster seeking talented musicians for a show. There are a lot of prizes to be won but Tom wasn’t freaked out by the prizes. All he could see was an opportunity to showcase himself to the world. Without wasting much time he applied and got back to practice again.
D-day was here and Tom got to the venue in competition with a lot of musicians. He couldn’t believe himself standing on the stage in front of a great crowd. Fear came through him but he needed to summon some courage.
It was his turn to showcase his talent. After grabbing the microphone, his hands and voice began to shake. He couldn’t face the crowd…
He could hear his mom’s words. He looked up to see if she was the one talking to him. To his greatest surprise, he could see his mum appear in front of him. She nodded her head and cheered for him as she whispered into the thin air. “You can do it, Son!”.
Tom felt encouraged and started to sing. The crowd began to cheer for him, everyone stood up to wonder who got the melodies.
At the end of the show, Tom came out to be the winner and was signed to be a musician by one of the best musical bands in town. His face was filled with tears of joy as he wished his mom could appear in front of him again so he could just give her a warm hug after a long time.
this is a story with a happy ending. Tom eventually became a great musician because he got a contract from a famous band. It was a great achievement for Tom
Yeah. It was. And that’s as a result of not giving up on our dreams
How nice!!! I like the optimism in your story. In my case it is difficult to write happy endings, all my characters are crossed by tragedy. I appreciate reading happy stories, good job!!!!
Yeah thanks so much for the appreciation. I also just did the little best I could.
I just wish his mum could have been there to see it. Maybe she was, looking down at him from above.
But even though she wasn't there in person her voice kept him going. A shout to all the wonderful mums out there.
I enjoyed reading your story.
Wow. Thanks so much for reading and appreciating my petty write up.
At his young age Tom does not know all the possibilities that life can give him. His mother gives him a didactic explanation that will help him to keep up when she is not around. Tom is very fortunate and quickly achieves success.
Thanks for writing this story for The ink well, @abdul-qudus. Thanks also for keeping up your comments on other posts.
Thanks so much for stopping by and appreciating my write up..
How lovely that his mother's words of encouragement continued to support him after she had gone, and he was able to follow his dream!
Yea ma’am. Thanks so much for reading and the nice comments too
Tom's mother gave him the best advice of his life because she saw the potential in him. Fortunately he didn't give up on the idea.
Yeah and that was the best he could do to help himself.

Awesome job. This was a happy ending and I love it. Tom stuck to his mother's words and they didn't leave him. She didn't leave him either. Parents are so precious.
Yeah they are. And they are the best creation gifted to us from above.
Thanks so much for stopping by
My pleasure.
