If I were to be an agricultural teacher

I remain this humble soul who is always ready to appreciate my existence on the surface, once we realize that staying alive is never by our power or might then we know that all we have to do in life is to thank God for his mercy and grace over us.

Today is Monday again and it’s so much sure that it’s just another busy day again for everyone. Workers will have to get prepared for their daily activities and also have to prepare for their kids too because the weekend holiday is over.

I remember back then when I was a teacher, I always found it difficult at first to wake up on Mondays for school because I am always tired and felt every day should be the weekend or maybe the school should just resume by 10 am instead of 7 am.

But after a few weeks into the job I got used to it and even waking up at that time became a part of me that even on weekends I wake as early as the weekdays too. Another thing I cherished about being a teacher is the fact that seeing those children I teach happy always and getting to understand what they are being taught in the class is always a joy to the teacher. Though all students can never be equal, when a teacher tries their best then the result gives nothing but happiness.

WHAT IF I AM TO BE A SUBJECT TEACHER?

I would love to take agriculture as a subject. I know everyone will not like to take the course but I see it to be a general course that everyone should take. It is so much similar to biology when it comes to discussion but there are just a few differences between them.

Agriculture is an amazing course and one of the wonderful subjects I loved while I was a student and it is also one of the courses I passed the most. My reason for having more interest in agriculture is the fact that it draws humans closer to nature and its natural environment. You can’t be in an agriculture class and get bored of taking it. It’s always interesting and fun.

I remembered a day when my teacher taught us the four stomach compartments of ruminant animals. It was my first time hearing such. I thought to myself how would such an animal have four stomachs? So do we humans too have four stomachs?

Our teacher gave further examples by telling us more about the lifestyle of a goat and cow, he said we are going to see them “regurgitate” and that act is when they vomit the food they already swallowed from one compartment of their stomach and chew again before swallowing into the other stomach till it passes through its digestive system.

I was so eager to see these stomach compartments. So I finally got the chance on a sallah day when we slaughtered a ram. I was with them till the slaughtering ended. And I finally saw the compartment. That must have brought more love and passion for agriculture.

I also love the practical aspects of agriculture. Where we get to plant crops and see or grow from seed to seedlings 🌱, to crops and trees 🌳. Agriculture is just so amazing and I love it.

Becoming a graduate of agriculture must have built up my interest in agriculture more than other subjects. If I am to teach any subjects either at a primary level or college or even in higher institutions then it will be courses on Agriculture.

Conclusion.

If I were allowed to take just one subject it would be agricultural science and related studies because this has been my field and I am more knowledgeable about it. I believe it is way easier to impact the world with something you know than that of which you are ignorant.
Teachers should be knowledgeable in whichever aspect they are assigned to teach as the more educated the teacher is in such a field the more it would be easier to pass the knowledge across to others.
