NEWCASTLE empató frente al Bournemouth en St James Park. Es verdad, extiende su racha sin perder a cuatro partidos (dos victorias y dos empates) pero está muy lejos de lo que esperaban ésta temporada, donde ya están fuera de la Champions. Uno de los factores que se le atribuye éste declive es el cambio de su portero estelar, Pope. Él fue una figura clave en la temporada pasada. Sin embargo, ha tenido que abandonar los campos de juego gracias a una penosa lesión unas semanas de iniciada la temporada. Allí está Dubravka. Las comparaciones son odiosas, pero al ver las estadísticas de uno y otro se puede ver una diferencia considerable. Y precisamente la defensa de esta temporada está muy debilitada. Algunos estiman su regreso para el mes de Abril. ¿Dónde estará el Newcastle en ese momento? Era muy importante para sus expectativas de seguir en los puestos que lo lleven a competir en la Champions League. Habían perdido el partido anterios, y ha sido un bálsamo ésta nueva victoria. Parece que tendrá que competir ese cuarto lugar con el Tottenahm y Manchester United. Será muy difícil alcanzar a los tres de arriba que compiten por algo más. Los villanos llegan a ésta jornada en medio de rumores que proponen a Unai Emery como el próximo entrenador del Bayern Munich. Todos deben mantener la calma y procurar concentrarse en lo que sí es verdad: deben seguir sumando para lograr quedarse en la parte alta. Cabe destacar de que para lograrlo tendrá que amarrarse bien los pantalones porque le quedan varios equipos fuertes por enfrentar en la temporada: Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal (que son los tres que están arriba en la tabla), Tottenham (rival directo) y Chelsea. ¿Sobrevivirá?

NOTTINGHAM FOREST sigue buscando alejarse de la zona de descenso. Afortunadamente lo ha logrado. Actualmente es el equipo número 16 en la tabla y es la peor posición que ha tenido. Llegó allí en diciembre del año pasado y se ha estacionado logrando una distancia prudente del descenso. Ganó en su último encuentro al West Ham United logrando incluso que su portería quedara imbatida. Se puede ver que éste equipo ha sabido buscar partido de las debilidades del rival y reconocer la diferencia de nivel que en ocasiones resulta evidente. Aún así, no se queda de brazos cruzados. Por ejemplo, es el equipo que más veces ha anotado de contragolpe (8) y es el segundo que más ha anotado desde afuera del área (8). Así que apuesta a las oportunidades y la transición rápida. De hecho, su juego es tan vertical que es el decimosexto equipo en el departamento de pases del balón. Están intersados en sumar puntos en vista de la posible sanción que pudieran enfrentarse, parecida a la que tiene el Everton. Por eso irá con lo mejor que tiene a visitar al Villa Park.
