Luego de una docena de jornadas, ¿tendremos un líder diferente en la tabla de posiciones? Empieza a haber movimientos en la parte alta, y el top 4 se muestra muy coerente con la realidad actual y la historia contemporánea de la Liga. Analicemos lo que nos deparará éste fin de semana.

CHELSEA vs. MANCHESTER CITY

CHELSEA sigue invicto esta temporada ante equipos del big six, ya que empató frente al Liverpool y Arsenal, y en la última fecha logró vencer al Tottenham como visitante 1-4. Su entrenador argentino habla de que es una muestra de que Chelsea está en el nivel para competir con equipos grandes éste año, y aunque nadie pone en duda el talento emergente que tienen, no estoy seguro de que eso sea totalmente cierto. Es fácil decirlo teniendo a un rival con 9 jugadores en cancha, ¿no es cierto? Es verdad, mientras estuvieron igual fue un partido que raspó duro, fue de ida y vuelta, con varios goles anulados y una intensidad que no bajó. Pero creo que aún este Chelsea debe engranar sus piezas nuevas y brillantes. Su entrenador les ha pedido conservar su personalidad y carácter para poder crear una buena racha, en vista de que no ganaban desde hace un mes, frente al Burnley. Ahora, recibir al ganador de los últimos torneos será un excelente termómetro.

MANCHESTER CITY ganó contundentemente al Bournemouth 6-1 en la última jornada, y gracias a eso, vuelve al primer lugar de la tabla luego de haberlo dejado hace un mes. Mucho ayudó precisamente la victoria que logró su rival de ésta jornada, en vista que el Tottenham era el que ocupaba esa posición. Ahora, con tres victorias seguidas y 11 goles marcados con apenas 2 en contra, busca mantener el liderato y afianzarse allí, al menos en ésta jornada. No lograr la victoria podría representar ser alcanzado por Liverpool, Arsenal o hasta superado por los spurs. Haaland está de vuelta, luego que el fin de semana pasado haya tenido un pequeño percanse. Pero ya demostró estar a tono en el partido entre semana. Será un interesante duelo entre su potencia y juventud contra la experiencia y edad de Thiago Silva, quien estará esperándolo en la última línea enemiga. Con todo, Guardiola dijo que el Chelsea volverá a competir por cosas grandes en el futuro. ¿Será el futuro hoy?

De hecho, se ha aferrado de la zona Champions desde el mismísimo primer mes de competición y aún lo conserva, actualmente en el puesto 3. La salud ha acompañado últimamente a sus mayores estrellas y su buen rendimieno está ayudando a la mejora que esperában sus seguidores para éste año. Con todo, se empieza a escuchar los posibles reemplazos para el entrenador Klopp, y uno de los nombres que aparecen es el español Xavi Alonso, quien dirige en Alemania y también tiene pasado con el equipo de Merseyside. Ya sabemos que hace meses atrás se hablaba mucho si la relación de Klopp seguiría con el club. Así que si ese tema vuelve a surgir, ya habrán algunos nombres simpáticos y conocidos para los reds.

BRENTFORD volvió a ganar, ésta vez ante el West Ham United en un cerrado encuentro que terminó 3-2. Éste modesto equipo es uno de los más competitivos con lo que tiene, y actualmente tiene una racha de tres victorias seguidas, con ocho goles anotados y apenas dos goles en contra, dejando en ése mismo tiempo dos veces su portería invicta. Y ésto no es casualidad, en vista de que es uno de los objetivos que se trazaron cuando ascendieron a la primera categoría, en su momento. Nadie ponía en duda su capacidad ofensiva, pero en la Premier League tienes que saber defender, los contragolpes, en el juego aéreo, en el mano a mano, en velocidad... Así que es una de las metas que ha logrado alcanzar Thomas Frank con los suyos. De hecho, en la tabla de menos goles permitidos está en el primera mitad (donde no está el Manchester United, por ejemplo). Y en la tabla de más goles anotados también está en la primera mitad (donde no está el Chelsea ni Manchester United, por ejemplo).

Anfield será el escenario, y allí los últimos cuatro encuentros han sido victoria para los anfitriones, y no sólo eso, sino que el Brentford no ha sido capaz de anotar ni un gol. La última vez que se vieron las caras terminó 1-0 con gol de Salah.

WEST HAM vs. NOTTINGHAM FOREST

WEST HAM abre las puertas del London Stadium para ésta jornada. En la anterior fue víctima de las abejas 3-2, y sigue en caída libre, con tres derrotas seguidas. De hecho, en los últimos siete encuentros por liga sólo ha ganado una vez, y empatado una vez. Del resto, son cinco duras derrotas que lo han llevado a la segunda mitad de la tabla, en el puesto 12. David Moyes sigue buscando la fórmula para sacar adelante los resultados, y mucho tiene que ver con el mexicano Edson, quien ha dicho anteriormente que desea dosificarlo para que mantenga su mejor nivel. Bowen ha sido uno que ha cargado en sus hombros algunos partidos y de esa forma maquillar un poco los resultados, pero no ha sido suficiente. La línea de defensa necesita ser más compacta y dar menos oportunidades a los tiros de larga distancia. Los hammers tendrán una nueva oportunidad para cortar esta racha negativa.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST tuvo en espléndido partido en la última jornada ante el Aston Villa. Hizo todo bien, ordenado, colectivo, retrocediendo bien y aprovechando las oportunidades. Su portero Odysseas se vio sereno y sin presión, logrando mantener su portería imbatida y ayudando con actuaciones importantes. Ésta victoria fue importante ya que tenían seis partidos sin ganar partidos y pudieron hacerlo en casa. La duda que tienen para éste encuentro es Hudson - Odoi, quien no es seguro que esté con buena salud para ser convocado. Con un excelente salto desde la posición 16 a la 13, el Forest buscará trepar más a mediado de tabla y lo mantenga seguro en un mes de diciembre que se asoma en el horizonte, donde suele ser trepidante.

En la temporada pasada siempre ganó el que jugó en su estadio. West Ham aprovechó esta situación y pudo ganar 4-0 cuando tocó su turno.

EL JUGADOR

JEREMY DOKU fue la estrella de la última jornada de la Premier League. Logró anotar un gol y dar cuatro asistencias. Ésto último no sucedía en la Premier League desde 2021. En total, acumula dos goles y cinco asistencias. Es notorio que en tres de las seis ocasiones que ha salido de titular ha participado en al menos un gol de forma directa. El belga traído desde la liga francesa está abriendose paso en ésta competitiva plantilla y su entrenador no ha ocultado su asombro cada vez que habla de él frente a las cámaras. Probablemente lo volvamos a ver en Londres en domingo. Por cierto, ¿quien es Riyad Mahrez?
