My Review - Obedience to God's Will (Part 1 of 2) | The Old Path

God has a will for us. God's will for his children is total obedience to his commandments. According to Psalms 10:8, David expresses his desire to do the will of God and mentioned that he has kept God's law in his heart. This is to say, there is no doing God's will without obeying his commandments.

KJV:He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.

In Matthew 28:20, Jesus Christ said,

"Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world."

This implies that if we want God's company, God's steady care and provision, then we have a part to play. Our part to play is simply living according to his commands because that's where God's will is at.

Moreso, Jesus added in Matthew 7:21, saying,

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."

This is Jesus resounding the essence of obedience to God's commandment. It means our obedience will be rewarded with eternal life, this means our obedience will pay off a great deal and that we should stop at nothing to obey God's word to the letter.

Jesus had made lots of promises in the scriptures concerning those who keep his words. You don't claim to love God without actually keeping his commands. As in John 14:23, Jesus said,

"If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him".

This is a promise that if you and I truly love God, we will keep His words and having done this, He will make an abode with us. By making an abode it means that I will be an instrument of blessing to my generation. I am what it takes for God to execute His plans for the lives of men. He will make His home with me, a home of salvation and a home of light, to call out men wallowing in darkness. I can only be an instrument if I have obeyed his words.

Do you want to be instrumental to God's ministry? Do you want to see God at the end of this race, when we are done with the pain and sorrows of this earth? Then all you have to do is obey! Don't let disobedience ruin the perfect plan God has for you and your generation. Just trust and obey!
